The 8th Taicang “China-Germany Friendship Cup” International Table Tennis Tournament Concludes with Great Success!

On October 18, 2025, the much-anticipated 8th Taicang “China-Germany Friendship Cup” International Table Tennis Invitational Tournament came to a successful close at the Taicang Sports Stadium.

Among the distinguished guests at the opening ceremony were Mr. Zhou Fei, Vice Mayor of Taicang; Mr.  Christian Sommer, Vice President of the German Table Tennis Association (DTTB) and Chairman & CEO of the German Centre Shanghai; Mr. Yan Hao, Director of the Taicang Bureau of Culture, Sports, Radio, Television and Tourism; Mr. Duan Yueqiang, Director of the China-Germany Office of the Taicang High-Tech Industrial Development Zone; and Mr. Yu Zhigang, Head of the Table Tennis Committee of the China Senior Sports Association.

This year’s tournament brought together 16 teams from China and Germany, who competed with passion, skill, and friendship. The atmosphere in the arena was electric — players demonstrated impressive techniques, from powerful smashes to precise spins and fast-paced rallies, drawing cheers and applause from the audience. Beyond the competition, the event celebrated the strong bonds of friendship and mutual respect between the Chinese and German participants.

After a day of thrilling matches, the results were as follows:

Group A

Champion: Shanghai Tongjia Group

Runner-up: bdp Management Consulting (Tianjin) Co. Ltd

Third Place: Taicang High-Tech Zone Administrative Committee

Group B

Champion: Binzhou Table Tennis Association, Shandong Province

Runner-up: FIBRO Precision Components

Third Place: Hurricane Shanghai Team

Known as the “hometown of German enterprises” in China, Taicang has hosted the China-Germany Friendship Cup for eight consecutive editions. Over the years, it has become much more than a sports event — it’s a symbol of Taicang’s close partnership with Germany and an important platform for cultural exchange and friendship. Through the shared love of table tennis, Chinese and German players continue to deepen understanding, build lasting friendships, and write new chapters in Sino-German cooperation.
